Most of this bike was. NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH LATER MUDDY FOXES - these early original bikes were built like battle-ships and well regarded in the bike industry in the 1980s. There is not a single dent on this original frame or fork from new triple butted Japanese Tange CroMo steel tubing did the job well - making an indestructible mountain bike built to last! Brooks leather saddle and new grips are probably the only after-market additions over time. 19.5 early Muddy Fox - is the more popular size for people to actually ride today. They also made a'large' 21.5" and extra large 23" frame - which are not as usable as mtb's today, the 19.5 is the one to have and will fit people upto 6' like me, top tubes were much shorter back then, and I have also owned and ridden a 21.5 Muddy Fox Courier which was good on road, but not so good off road. This bike was professionally restored 10 years ago in a nice yellow powder-coat (not quite like the original factory metallic yellow - but a very nice finish) - with a perfectly matched set of either original/replica decals and not ridden since - just hung on the wall as a talking piece and more recently lined up in my retro bike collection in the loft. Today - the bike remains very authentic including nearly all of its original parts, correct Japanese made wheel set with Suntour hubs, the now very hard to get - rear wheel disc covers (originally designed to "keep sticks out of the spokes off-road, and look good" - but later regarded as a clever marketing ploy) Anything that has been replaced from wear and tear at restoration was done so with the correct Suntour part. First to go can go and the rest I will keep for good. If you have any interest in these bikes grab this one while you can, before I change my mind. You will not find another one as original or as good anywhere today! Thanks for looking and happy mountain biking to you in future.
