GT Avalanche 1.0 mountain bike, Medium, RETRO, Heavily upgraded
GT Avalanche 1.0 mountain bike, Medium, RETRO, Heavily upgraded. Where to start with this, but it's finally time to let my trusty hardtail go to a new home after 20+ years after convincing myself to upgrade to a new full suspension model! It has seen a lot of use in this time but has also been gradually and comprehensively upgraded with quality parts.

This bike is well loved with many chips and a few scrapes, but no dents or frame cracks I'm aware of. I'm 5 foot 11 and this bike fits me perfectly but it do prefer a frame on the smaller side.

Here is a list of all it's numerous upgrades. > Marzocchi MX comp 2003 Forks. Air spring model with 100mm travel (if I remember correctly). Still holds good pressure for ages, way better than the original Rockshox Judy!

> 10x3 speed Shimano SLX full drive train inc hollowtech 2 cranks. One of the more recent upgrades fitted when the original 9 speed Deore set-up became tired. Not too many miles on since this and shifts lovely and smooth. Is the model with clutch in rear derailleur which really helps keep chain where it should be too. > Custom hand built front wheel with Hope mono hub, Mavic X517 rim and DT Swiss spokes.

This wheel just takes everything and has never required trueing, runs die straight! > Tioga Factory XC 1.95 front tyre, could be original but still grips great and not perished.

> DT Swiss X1700 cross country rear wheel. Also a solid wheel which runs true and nice positive freewheel action.

> Geax Gato 1.9 wide folding rear tyre. Have another to match for front which I'll throw in if I get near asking price.. > Clarke's M2 Hydraulic disk brakes, 180mm front, 160mm rear. One of the best budget disk brakes around and plenty powerful enough IMO.

> Pace Billet stem, really nice and rare item - try find another! > Grips with lock on collars. > FSA headset bearings with taper roller on bottom. > Crank Bros Saddle, small hole on one side. > Trans-X EPDM suspension seatpost.

Only 25mm or so travel which is firm but takes sting out of mildly rough ground. Rubber gaiter split but does effect function.

Hopefully you can tell from this how loved this bike has been. Collection only please from BD10 (Idle) area of Bradford, don't ask as I won't risk posting it thanks. This item is in the category "Sporting Goods\Cycling\Bikes".
