Paul Turner sets up Rock Shox, makes a fortune making suspension forks near enough obligatory. He calls his new company Maverick American. Starting from a blank sheet of paper with a hotline to all the leading innovators and manufacturers in the industry such as Easton and Fox they designs their first bike and Klein get to work on a limited edition frame building run.Attention to detail is incredible. Each bike is hand built and on the head tube badge, they scribe the bikes date of birth and give the bike a nickname. This ML7 was born on 6/9/2004 and is called Kung Fu! The quality of the frame building is at least on par with the best builders of the time as the frames were built by Klein. The Welds as you'd expect are incredibly precise, the cast linkage unit is super crisp and touches like the separate polished stainless seat clamp sleeve, and headbadge with its engraved individual date of manufacture and name just shout out attention to detail. Front forks on this ML7 are a good set of Marzocchi Bomber Z1's with lockout that Works perfectly. At the rear, the bike sits somewhere between a linkage and an URT (unified rear triangle).
The bottom bracket sits on a single magnesium'Monolink' linkage piece between the front and rear triangle. A custom built Fox shock (coil with an air assist spring) forms the fixed front member of the rear triangle. This delivers no'chain growth' to drag the back wheel down as you pedal and little change in bottom bracket height as the suspension compresses. The back end is otherwise conventional while the front end uses a custom built Easton tubeset. The seat tube curves up and back which means that as you increase the seat height you increase the effective top tube length which is why there's plenty of tolerance for rider height.
Stopping power comes from Hope Mono mini rear and Mono MA front hydraulic brakes and a big 200mm rotor to the front & 160mm rear. Wheels are Bontrager Rhythm Come 26 with good condition Schwable tubeless 2.25 tyres. Transmission is full compliment of Shimano Deore XT 3 x 9 with the exception of the 3 x shifter which is upgraded to XTR.Bottom bracket is a Raceface X-type Team XC. FSA carbon seatpost & headrace.
The bike Comes with original owners manuals and spare derailleur hangers. It all works as it should with no play or loose cones etc. There's no damage, dents or cracks to the beautiful frame and not even any chain slap as the frame was factory fitted with a frame protector.
